Recovery after joint surgery, such as a hip or knee replacement, isn’t always the most comfortable chapter of the process — though it is a very important one. There’s usually rest, elevation, a lot of water, and the occasional attempt to reach for the remote with a grabber stick.

At PJS Orthopaedics, we understand that patients often ask about supportive options to use at home after their procedure — particularly in the early stages of recovery when swelling and discomfort can be more noticeable. One such option that may assist in general post-operative care is the Game Ready system, which combines cold therapy and intermittent compression.

We now offer Game Ready units for hire, making it easier for our patients to access this equipment after their surgery. While not a treatment in itself, some individuals choose to incorporate these types of devices into their recovery plan, in consultation with their healthcare provider.

To avoid any suggestion of endorsement, we always recommend that patients make informed decisions in discussion with their treating specialist or GP. For general information about the equipment, you can visit Game Ready’s website or see a demonstration here.

We’re one of the few orthopaedic centres in Melbourne offering this service directly to patients, and we’re happy to answer questions about its availability.

Recovery looks a bit different for everyone. Our role is to help guide that process safely, with tools and support that align with each individual’s needs.
